Ismaël Lucas ZGHIKH, 32, is a versatile multidisciplinary artist. He holds a Post-Master in Design from ENSA Grenoble (FR) and a Master’s degree in Architecture from FA+U Mons (BE). With over 8 years of experience in architecture, he now seeks to move beyond conventional paths, driven by urgent environmental concerns and profound philosophical questions. His goal is to engage in more hybrid practices, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable and innovative artistic approaches.
For nearly a year and a half, he chose to embrace another form of beauty and experiment with alternative ways of living. He traveled across Europe in a vintage van, exploring the Balkans, Greece, and beyond, while participating in volunteer projects within diverse communities. His journey then took him to India, a pivotal chapter where he engaged in organic farming and reforestation projects. Ismaël no longer subscribes to competition, individualism, or the contradictions of contemporary Western narratives. Instead, he prioritizes honesty, clarity, communication, compassion, and respect for all beings.
Ismaël’s artistic path reflects a broad spectrum of exploration. He nurtures his daily passion for playful experimentation through markers, collage, photography, music, and more. Recognized for his meticulous attention to detail and dedication to his craft, he was invited to serve as a jury member during project reviews at FA+U, contributing to the development of emerging talents under the mentorship of Etienne Holoffe.
Since receiving a photography award in 2012 during his studies, he has continued to capture and archive images, cultivating an intuitive practice rooted in storytelling and emotional resonance. His photographic and painted works have been exhibited on various occasions, including at Mori Film Lab (Forest), Het Bos (Antwerp), ERG (Ixelles), and more.
